The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) Clinical Assistant Professor position within the Clinical Psychology Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program. This is an 11-month appointment to begin August 1, 2025. Licensure or license-eligibility as a psychologist in the state of Texas is expected. Faculty in this title engage in graduate and undergraduate teaching, supervision of clinical practica, service to the program, department, university, community, and field, and research including serving on student thesis and dissertation committees and collaborating on research projects as appropriate per area of expertise. Typical teaching responsibilities for colleagues in this Academic Professional Track faculty position are 3 courses per semester and 2 courses during the summer term (8 courses per year). Clinical supervision in assessment and intervention is applied toward teaching expectations.

The successful candidate will have graduate teaching and clinical supervision experience founded in cognitive-behavioral theory and practice and evidence-based treatment and assessment modalities and will be expected to engage in a program of development as a scholar, mentor, and supervisor. A successful candidate will have a c ommitment to legal and ethical practices in service delivery and clinical training/supervision and a c ommitment to collegiality, collaboration, respect for all persons, and prioritization of an optimal clinical training environment. This title is part of a promotable track, which also includes the titles of Clinical Associate Professor and Clinical Professor.

The Psychology Training Clinic, established in 1986 as the primary training clinic for the clinical psychology doctoral program at Texas A&M University, provides clinical training and supervision in evidence-based assessment and treatment for individuals and families across the lifespan. The Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program has been accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1988, shortly after being established, and subscribes to a scientist-practitioner training model with clinical science emphases.

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University is a community of scholars committed to generating scientific discoveries in the discipline, providing rigorous and inspiring undergraduate and graduate education, and engaging in outreach about psychology and the application of psychological science. We value collaboration, with many faculty having grants and research projects with colleagues inside and beyond the department. The Department has numerous programs to support early career faculty, including a formal mentoring program. We offer doctoral programs in clinical psychology, cognition and cognitive neuroscience, social and personality psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, and behavioral and cellular neuroscience, and a Master's program in industrial/organizational psychology.

We currently have 50 full-time faculty, over 100 PhD students, and approximately 2,000 undergraduate majors. Qualifications

  1. Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (or related field) from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS)

  2. Licensed or License-Eligible as a psychologist in the State of Texas

  3. Experience in providing, teaching, and/or supervising evidence-based therapies and assessment methods

  4. Experience in adult psychological assessment and treatment of a wide range psychological conditions
