Prince George's Community College Adjunct Faculty - Respiratory Therapy (Part-Time) in United States

Job Description Summary:

The instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities during the day, evening, or weekend via instructional delivery formats to include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote. Face-to-face and hybrid classes may be offered on any Prince George’s Community College campus, or at off-campus locations. The instructor must remain current in the discipline area and continually explore teaching methods and strategies to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles, and devise appropriate assessment tools that monitor student learning outcomes. The instructor is also responsible for participating in related activities to include professional development, academic advising, curriculum design.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of clinical experience required to teach students in the clinical or laboratory settings.

  • The adjunct must be an employee of the Respiratory Therapy Department at the hospital affiliate site for which the clinical instruction will take place.

  • Supervisory or mentoring experience in a clinical setting preferred.

  • Official documentation of credentials and degrees may be requested; degrees are recognized only if earned at an accredited institution.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum requirement: AAS degree in Respiratory Therapy from a CoArc accredited institution.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapy credential and active license to practice Respiratory Therapy in Maryland and/or Washington DC.

  • Specific requirements as mandated by Maryland Board of Physicians or/or DC Health Licensing Board for Respiratory Therapy

  • Specialized clinical skills, experience and expertise related to Respiratory Therapy Practitioners as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care and the American Association for Respiratory Care.

  • Language and communication skills specific to health care and professionalism.

  • Willingness to teach in non-traditional formats (hospital setting)

  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.

  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
