Interior, US Fish and Wildlife Service Administrative Support Assistant in United States

Summary This position is a Administrative Support Assistant, GS-0303-6/7 working for the Assistant Regional Director-Ecological Services. If selected, you will be placed at a Region 6 Regional or Field Office. Preferred locations are Lakewood, CO; Grand Junction, CO; Vernal, UT; or Pierre, SD. Questions regarding duty location preference and placement should be saved for the interview. Responsibilities As a Administrative Support Assistant your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Prepares obligations, reviews and processes invoices and vouchers, and enters information into an automated administrative accounting system; uses government credit card to purchase necessary supplies and services by proper procurement methods; and prepares, maintains, and ensures accuracy of time and attendance reports through the electronic time and attendance system. Coordinates with Regional Payroll Coordinator on payroll problems; coordinates travel schedules, arrangements, justifications, and necessary authorizations for all staff; prepares and submits all travel vouchers; and coordinates and schedules staff training and trains clerical personnel. Assists in developing and formulating field level budget including estimates, justifications, and all financial activities; analyzes historical budget and financial data as a preliminary to budget preparation; and identifies problem areas and makes recommendations for corrective action. Assists in preparation of pertinent personnel action forms; provides guidance and assistance in all personnel matters; provides guidance and assistance on applicable procedures, instructions, and regulations to other personnel assigned to the field station.- Prepares and supervises the preparation of reports associated with property, training, vehicle use, energy, equipment, safety, travel, and various other special reports as requested; supervises the inventory of all accountable property; and conducts a physical inventory of all accountable property. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Only experience and education obtained by 10/03/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualifications. Minimum Qualification [GS-06] I possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes: (1) Using various word processing and spreadsheet software to create document and spreadsheets; (2) Assisting with procurement of services and supplies; (3) Assisting with the preparation/reviewing of travel vouchers; (4) Serving as a timekeeper using an automated timekeeping system; (5) Independently preparing forms, documents, correspondence; and (6) Assisting in the preparation of budgets. NOTE: To qualify under this option, your resume must contain sufficient detail to prove you have one year experience equivalent to the GS-05 level performing these duties. Minimum Qualification [GS-07] I possess at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-06 level in the Federal service. This experience includes (1) Budget related duties including updating and tracking budget and financial data; (2) Preparing finance/budget related reports; (3) Preparing and reviewing correspondence and/or reports requiring prescribed formats, proper grammar and spelling; (4) Purchasing supplies and equipment; (5) Maintaining suspense tracking of deadlines for the office; and (6) Maintaining files/records and property management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
