AltaGas - Sr. Dispatcher

AltaGas is seeking a Sr. Dispatcher for our Sundre, AB team! Our Sr. Dispatchers collaborate with dispatch teams and company drivers, providing daily support to the field, energy marketing, and management to ensure AltaGas' trucking operations meet daily requirements, ensuring overall customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be on-call during their shift.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations for company drivers and lease operators transporting dangerous goods, including scheduling, maintenance, order creation, order processing, compliance, and equipment utilization.

  • Manage and communicate driver schedules for efficiency and work-life balance.

  • Ensure maximum efficiency of driver and equipment utilization based on current customer demands.

  • Schedule truck and trailer maintenance internally and with third party facilities, involving the Asset team.

  • Manage electronic logs and GPS systems, including internal communication portals, HOS, speed, and collision alerts.

  • Responsible for order creation and computing in the TMW system to capture daily driver revenue.

  • Manage customer contracts and inventory control at supply and destination plants.

  • Schedule 3rd party trucks during peak periods to meet nominations.

  • Provide reports (daily, weekly, monthly) to internal and external customers, marketing, and management.

  • Order creation via TMW for next-day commitments or just-in-time deliveries.

  • Order verification of the prior day's commitments with returned paperwork in Vector.

  • Order processing of returned paperwork in TMW to push to the next billing phase/realized revenue.

  • Follow up on outstanding items to ensure timely billing/processing.

  • Daily review and cleanup of dispatch boards and removal of canceled required orders.

  • Train in dispatch applications for multiple locations.

  • Be available from 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily to support drivers and maintain constant contact with customers, management, marketing, mechanical shops, and the internal team.

  • Handle emergencies outside normal business hours (10:01 PM – 5:59 AM) while on call with prompt responses to calls, texts, and emails.

What We're Looking For:

  • 8+ years of experience in transportation, dispatch, scheduling, or an equivalent role.

  • Previous oilfield experience/exposure to TDG best practices and procedures preferred.

  • Truckload Transportation Management software experience (TMW/Vector)

  • Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

  • Ability to work extended hours as required and dictated by customer demand.

Shift Schedule: 8 days on and 6 days off.

Typical dispatching hours: 6 AM – 10:00 PM.

Office hours: 07:00 AM – 3:00 PM during the week, with remote work in the evenings/weekends.

On-call duties: Required
