Ithaca College ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - PHYSICAL THERAPY in United States

Position Summary:

The School of Health Sciences and Human Performance (HSHP) at Ithaca College is currently hiring a faculty member with expertise in musculoskeletal/orthopedics and clinical administration to support the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This is a full-time (9.5 months), tenure-eligible position at the rank of assistant professor starting in Fall 2025. Candidates with expertise in a wide variety of areas related to clinical practice in musculoskeletal/orthopedics physical therapy are encouraged to apply. Desirable areas are musculoskeletal rehabilitation and clinical administration. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will also be expected to participate in clinically driven scholarship, student advising, mentorship in the on-campus clinic, and service at the Department, School, and College levels. Position Qualifications:

Requirements for the position

  • Possess an academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc), ABD considered.

  • Have at least 3 years of clinical experience.

  • Have a history of scholarship and an active research agenda.

  • Demonstrate commitment to excellence in physical therapy teaching and education.

  • Hold an active, unrestricted physical therapy license in any United States jurisdiction and obtain physical therapy licensure in New York State by the start of employment.

Preference for the position:

  • Possess ABPTS Board certification.

  • Have teaching experience in academic or residency/fellowship settings.

The Department of Physical Therapy is part of the vibrant School of Health Science and Human Performance at Ithaca College. Alongside the Departments of Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Physician Assistant Studies, Exercise Science and Athletic Training, and Health Sciences and Public Health, we offer a truly interdisciplinary experience. The successful candidate will join a team of renowned physical therapy experts, many of whom hold board-certified clinical specialties. Our faculty are deeply committed to the profession, actively contributing through service at the state, regional, and national levels, as well as through their scholarly dissemination, including textbook chapters, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations at national and international conferences. The successful candidate will work in our state-of-the-art facilities, including a cadaver anatomy lab, a patient simulation lab, an on-campus clinic, and a cutting-edge movement analysis lab that equips with 8-camera VICON motion capture, 4 Kistler force plate, 16-channel Delsys EMG, Nexus pressure treadmill, Biodex dynamometer, NeuroCom posturography, virtual reality headset, and pupillometry. This dynamic environment fosters collaboration and innovation, allowing the faculty to thrive and make a meaningful impact.

Hiring Range:

$70,000 - $75,000
