Position Summary

The Associate Software Developer – LIMS, is an entry level position on the Business Applications team.

The Associate Software Developer – LIMS will Learn & gain knowledge/expertise in LIMS (Lab information management system) solution and work with multiple stakeholders to understand, document and develop the features/functionalities and ensure a reliable, tested solution is delivered. Participate in the training of end users.

Support of the applications would include resolving issues reported by users. Issues could be caused by bugs in the application or user error or programming errors. Resolution process will include, but not limited to, investigate known bugs on software vendor support website, create tickets or service requests with software vendor, develop scripts to fix data issues, make program changes, test fixes and apply the changes to production.

This position will also work on development requests and projects. This will include, but not limited to, interacting with business to gather requirements, design and develop technical solution, unit test programs, user testing, documentation and production implementation. Requests involve development of reports, alerts, workflows, interfaces and data conversion programs.

The position also requires staying abreast with changes in technology, programming languages, and software development tools.

These tasks and activities will be completed with the help and under the guidance of the supervisor. Participation in team and / or project meetings, to schedule work and discuss status, will be required.

Duties

  1. Works with stakeholders to define requirements and to create user specification documents

    1. Serve as an application analyst for LIMS application and other IT projects.

    2. Provides day to day support for the LIMS application

    3. Works with business users, IT staff and vendors to analyze and configure the application

    4. Participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations.

    5. Maintains software and project documentation with a high degree of professionalism

    6. Keep up with the latest version of LIMS to analyze and understand the need for an upgrade.

    7. Develop test plans to test system changes

    8. Perform unit, system and integration testing and participate in capacity / performance testing of an application. Create / test prototypes

    9. Develop / enhance software application modules.

    10. Troubleshoot and resolve problems with application configurations.

    11. Develops and implements training plans to support applications as required.

    12. Identify and document ongoing maintenance requirements.

    13. Provide escalation support for System Administrators.

Experience + Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information technology, or other relevant degree (required)

  • Experience in supporting web-based applications

  • Experience in Software Development Life Cycle methodologies

  • Experience in gathering business requirements

  • Experience writing SQL Data queries

  • Knowledge of Cloud services like Microsoft Azure, AWS etc.

  • Knowledge of Bitbucket GIT, Jira, and Azure DevOps is a plus

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and conflict management skills

  • Solid business acumen and understanding of processes in business applications

  • Understanding of technologies such as ASP.Net, C#. CSS, HTML5, and JavaScript

  • Basic understanding of Oracle and/or SQL Server database

  • Ability to work in a matrix team environment with both internal and 3rd party development teams (onshore/offshore).
