What you need to know
Due to the nature of this position, the incumbent in this position will be expected to report full time in office at the TTI RELLIS campus in Bryan, TX.
The salary range for position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
Job Summary:
Conduct research in a support role on a diverse team to manage laboratory experiments and field activities and develop skills needed to eventually lead research. Specific duties include reviewing literature, planning research activities, coordinating and collecting data, analyzing data, writing reports and journal papers, preparing and delivering presentations, and assisting with proposal preparation. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
Essential Duties:
Conducts experiments/tests in the laboratory/field that include taking measurements and recording observations, collecting, compiling, and processing data. 55%
Contributes data/findings and literature reviews for use in reports, documents, papers, and presentations. 25%
Interacts in a collaborative manner with other team members to accomplish organizational goals; may provide ideas to improve efficiency at group level; networks primarily within own technical peer group. 5%
Supports supervision of undergraduate and graduate students and laboratory and field staff within own team. 10%
Contributes data/findings and literature reviews for use in proposals to maintain research funding. 4%
Performs other related duties as assigned. 1%
Required Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in related field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
One year relevant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization; continues development of technical expertise and knowledge through experience and application.
Ability to work under limited supervision to complete assigned tasks/projects, demonstrating the ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and has excellent interpersonal skills.
Has ability to multi-task, adapt to changing project requirements, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Has excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
Previous laboratory and/or field work experience in asphalt pavement materials preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move materials in the laboratory that weigh up to 50 lbs.
