Primary Function

Under fairly limited supervision, the incumbent prepares and maintains detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications typically using computer-aided design software. The incumbent’s work focuses on the documentation, illustration and digital modeling of engineering designs and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts designs under the direction and instruction of engineers but can manage some work on their own.

  • More broader project responsibility.

  • Will still participate in standard daily engineering changes if there is high volume but majority of work is on project team.

  • Assists engineers through design cycles of releasing new products.

  • Make standard changes to engineering drawings.

  • Complete CAD work as directed by engineer or another designer.

  • Complete basic designs and drawings.

  • May participate as secondary CAD person on advanced projects as experience is gained.

Role Specific Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Graphics, Engineering Design, or related field

  • 3+ years of related work experience or training

    Additional Qualifications:

  • SolidWorks certification preferred

  • SAP experience preferred

  • Ability to collaborate and provide optional design assistance

  • Vast knowledge of drafting standards

  • Effective written and verbal communication

  • Project management skills; understand project as a whole and know what is needed to meet deadlines

  • 2 – 3 full design projects with successful launch and good feedback from engineers..

  • Ability to quickly turn around requests

  • Understand PLM system, BOM, engineering change process (all in PLM), understand manufacturing processes in terms of tooling, understand design process, sheet metal design experience.

Education

Associate Degree in Related Field

Years of Experience

Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or training
