Akumin Chief Compliance Officer in United States

The Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer provides leadership guidance and support on compliance and privacy matters related to the company and its subsidiaries and affiliates. Reporting to General Counsel, the Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for all aspects of development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective, risk-based compliance program for the enterprise, including directly liaising with the Board of Directors and leading the Compliance Committee.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, maintain and update written policies and procedures and standards of conduct to create a culture of compliance and ensure adherence to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including but not limited to: The False Claims Act, The Anti-Kickback Statute, The Civil Monetary Penalties Law, The Stark Law, HIPAA, HITECH, etc.

  • Chair and manage the Compliance Committee and directly liaise with the Board of Directors regarding compliance matters.

  • Develop, implement, and manage effective compliance training and education initiatives for all Akumin employees and, as appropriate, affiliates.

  • Develop and implement open lines of communication for reporting any observed or suspected compliance issues or concerns, including but not limited to managing an enterprise-wide compliance hotline.

  • Develop, lead and manage a risk-based compliance and privacy auditing and monitoring program to detect, respond to, and remediate compliance violations.

  • Develop, implement, and enforce compliance standards through well-publicized disciplinary guidelines.

  • Develop and manage a compliance and privacy investigations function, including root cause analyses and corrective action plans.

  • Stay current on regulatory changes relevant to the enterprise and communicate potential impacts to company leadership.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the compliance program regularly and make associated updates or revisions to ensure a best-in-class program.

  • Other duties as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • A minimum of 7 years of compliance and privacy work experience in a healthcare environment with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.

  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare compliance and privacy regulations.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Effective time management, project management, organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Demonstrated expertise in change management.

  • Ability to act decisively and with good judgment in high pressure situations.

  • 25% Travel may be required.

Prefered:

  • Master's Degree.

  • At least one of the following certifications:Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

Physical Requirements:

Standard office environment.

  • Sit, stand, and walk.

  • Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.

  • See, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time:

  • Stoop, kneel or crawl.

  • Climb and balance.
