Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties typically working out of a central warehouse. Uses paper and/or computer system for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting. Follows shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routing, schedules and requirements. Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment. (Un)packs or (un)wraps items such as raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, equipment, etc. Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications; logs receipt of items on system, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents; reports materials shipped and bills of lading; posts weight and shipping charges and routes merchandise to destinations. May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Know and understand company and department policies and safety procedures.

· Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.

· Determines method of shipment.

· Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.

· Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.

· Packages contents according to instructions.

· Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.

· Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.

· Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.

· Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

· Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

· Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

· Fabricate wooden crates or boxes and package flight control surfaces and aircraft structural components, or other large or odd shaped products, as necessary or assigned.

· Be able to read/use a standard tape measure, metal bander, pneumatic nail gun, pneumatic staple gun, and Impact gun.

· Other various duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Read, write and understand English

Moderate Microsoft Office Skills

Good communication skills, both written and oral
