Overview

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure Ops Team, reporting directly to the Director of Infrastructure Operations. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the DevOps team and various business units, focusing on foundational cloud architecture and operations across multiple cloud service providers. We are looking for a candidate with extensive expertise in software engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, and the public cloud ecosystem to make a significant impact in our dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage computing services across a range of cloud infrastructure providers.

  • Ensure cloud infrastructure is scalable, secure, and reliable.

  • Stay up-to-date of emerging cloud technologies and assess their potential impact on our operations.

  • Work closely with Solutions Architecture, Engineering, Security, and Application teams to ensure digital solutions align with enterprise cloud guidelines and security best practices.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, including participating in constructive code reviews.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience with over 5 years in Information Technology with hands-on expertise in Cloud and Systems Engineering, and a solid understanding of large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments.

  • Proven experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing teams, with strong capabilities in matrix management, vendor management, and collaboration with shared services teams.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic environment, with the ability to balance strategic vision with tactical execution.

  • Proficient in understanding both technology and business drivers, with clear communication skills for interacting with implementation teams and stakeholders.

  • Experience with cloud service providers such as Azure or GCP.

  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform) and development skills in Python, Golang, or other scripting languages.

  • Strong grasp of networking concepts and hands-on experience with Azure networking services (e.g., VNet, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway).
