Project Description:

INRM is a five-year task order (July 2020 – July 2025) under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) STARR II IDIQ. INRM is managed by the USAID Land and Resource Governance (LRG) Division within the Center for Natural Environment (CNE) in the Bureau for Resilience, Environment, and Food Security (REFS). Activities under this contract may be identified and funded by USAID Washington-based offices and/or by Missions. INRM supports integrated analysis and programming across development sectors. By using a multi-sectoral lens, INRM seeks to strengthen the impacts of USAID’s core environmental programming by recognizing synergies, adopting best practices, and building broader constituencies for integrated programming. INRM is designed to help USAID operating units achieve higher impact environment programming and to support the uptake of principles and approaches outlined in the Agency’s Environmental and Natural Resource Management Framework.

Background

As INRM prepares to enter its final year of implementation, INRM’s Communications and Knowledge Management (CKM) team requires additional support to finalize, disseminate, and promote activity deliverables. The CKM Specialist will help INRM meet its range of CKM demands, creating blog, social media, and other content; coordinating with communications service providers such as designers and copy editors; ensuring products satisfy USAID brand guidelines; tracking analytics for INRM’s publications; and supporting other communications tasks, such as copyediting, dissemination, and social media, as required.

Responsibilities

The CKM Specialist will provide short-term backstopping for INRM’s CKM needs, such as:

  • Deliver high-quality writing and communications support. Develop communications materials that distill key ideas from INRM materials, for use as talking points and in presentations, website content, social media content, and other collateral.

  • Coordinate with STTA contractors to provide copy editing, design, layout, formatting, and 508 compliance for INRM products.

  • Support the development of dissemination tactics for INRM activities; draft content for social media and other channels to disseminate INRM’s work.

  • Work with INRM technical experts to identify and craft stories that communicate INRM’s impact, expertise, lessons learned, and valuable insights for target audience members.

  • Provide basic graphic design support, including formatting Word documents, PowerPoint slide decks, and other materials as needed.

  • Copy edit and proofread INRM written materials, including technical briefs, reports, blog posts and learning tools. Publish INRM materials to Links websites and other channels.

  • Identify photos from USAID Flickr accounts for use in communications materials; support the expansion and maintenance of INRM’s photo library

  • Support the development of content for dissemination at the INRM Fall 2024 learning event.·Collaborate with the INRM CKM Team and INRM technical leads to develop impact stories/highlights from across INRM to be featured in the INRM annual report, distilled for power points, and other relevant channels, such as the INRM Fall 2024 learning event.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 9+ years professional work experience in communications with expertise supporting clients engaged in international development

  • Communications experience working with USAID, USAID projects, or whole-of-government initiatives focused on international development

  • Understanding of USAID and USG priorities and experience framing messaging appropriately

  • Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively

  • Strong client-relationship management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-moving, fluid team setting with multiple stakeholders

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team player

Desirable but not required:

  • Basic graphic design skills

  • Experience navigating complex or politically-sensitive organizations or initiatives

Reporting: The CKM Specialist will report to INRM's Director of Communications and Knowledge Management.
