Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers is seeking an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer to join our Power Delivery Substation Department in our Birmingham, Alabama office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (candidate will need to live within a commutable distance of the office).
Responsibilities
As an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer, you will:
Collaborate with the department to produce high-quality products that align with POWER's mission and culture
Support departmental goals and foster internal teamwork
Perform detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations, including:
One-line diagrams
Schematics
Wiring diagrams
SCADA and Communications
Station physical layouts
Sections/Elevations
Cable and conduit plans/details
Ground grid design/details
Foundation plans/details
Structural plans/details
Control enclosure design/details
Lightning protection plans
Yard lighting plans
Bills of Materials
Site visits
Support QA/QC for client deliverables
Learn and adhere to client standards and processes
Work individually or in a team on complex designs
Travel occasionally
Required Education/Experience
BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university, preferably with a power option
Strong foundational knowledge of electrical engineering
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
Knowledge of electrical utility substations and substation design
