Entry Level Transmission Line Engineer

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is currently seeking an Entry Level Transmission Line Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in our Toronto, Ontario office.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions

  • Design of overhead power transmission lines for various voltage levels for a range of service providers across North America.

  • Working with a design team on structural analysis, foundation design, equipment specifications, layout drawings, structure details, cross sections and strength calculations.

  • Design tasks that can include alignment routing, material specifications, third party coordination, estimations, drafting, compliance checks, field reviews, scheduling, and computer modelling.

  • Interaction with other designers, draftspersons, clients, agencies, and regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure that designs comply with all applicable regulatory codes (e.g. CSA, CEC).

  • Working with power line design software (e.g. PLS-CADD).

Required Education/Experience

  • Degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering or other related discipline

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively with internal team members and external client personnel

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
