Interventional Radiology RN - Registered Nurse Per Diem 8-Hour Day Shift

Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) routinely start or check peripheral IV’s, assess infusaports, administer medications, monitor vital signs, suction patients, insert foleys and help patients with their personal needs. The Radiology RN also informs the technologist or radiologist of any unusual patient needs and performs specialized nursing duties, such as administering IV sedation or analgesia during special procedures and closely monitoring patients with cardiac/pulse oximeters. The Radiology RN performs PICCs, Midlines, and may scrub in and assist the radiologist when needed. They assist and inject Cardiac medicines during NucMed Cardiac studies, monitor and document the patient during their scan. They may monitor anesthesia patients during their MRI scans. The Radiology RN cares for patients transported from intensive care, patients in emergency situations and pediatric patients and others needing sedation. Teaching is another duty Radiology RNs assume, instructing patients and their families, students, technologists, other nurses, radiologists and physicians about patient care. They also teach the Radiology staff new nursing policies and national standards as such changes occur. Radiology nurses devote a lot of time to quality improvement and infection control programs: collecting data, keeping records and reporting results. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Qualification/Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of current experience in area applying for

  • Moderate Sedation

  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.

  • A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current professional RN license issued and/or recognized by the state Board of Nursing for the State of employment.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)from American Heart Association (AHA) required.

  • PICC Line certification preferred
