Southco Inc Maintenance & Repair Mechanic- 1st Shift in United States

About the role

Uses technical experience and process knowledge to address equipment and facility needs on a daily basis and to apply problem solving techniques to higher level issues that compromise safety, quality and/or productivity on an as needed basis.

Compensation: $27-$34

What you will be doing

  • Work with management to establish priority of work assignments. Determine tasks and priorities based on maintenance management system, daily production requirements and Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules. Update PM’s as required for open and completed tasks as assigned.

  • Troubleshoot and repair machines, feed systems, control systems and other production equipment. Replace broken or worn parts; make adjustments and/or recommend work to be performed. Perform repair of electrical and mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Work with production supervisors, manufacturing engineers and others to improve process capabilities and solve immediate manufacturing problems with long term solutions.

  • Cross train fellow team members in areas of one’s own expertise in these areas.

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities such as 5S, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), predictive maintenance to improve overall equipment effectiveness.

  • Read and interpret drawings, electrical schematics and technical literature. Work with manufacturers and vendors as needed for daily repair activity.

  • Move or install machinery and equipment, including; uncrating,positioning, leveling, securing and supply of proper utilities.

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of spare components for equipment in assigned areas to minimize machine down time.

  • Ensure documentation of machinery and equipment is current and accessible including uploading to maintenance management system as appropriate.

  • Work independently with little or no direct supervision of daily activities.

  • Ability to train on industrial lift equipment

About you

  • High School Diploma, or GED

  • Valid Driver's license.

  • Able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lb.

  • Flexible to shift requirements.

  • Minimum 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment performing maintenance activities.

  • Working Knowledge of PLC trouble shooting and basic programming preferred.

  • Safety and quality conscious.

  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic principles.

  • Basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook

  • Ability to work in a team environment and train others.
