General Description:

The purpose of the National Account Manager is to lead in the development and servicing of national accounts and establish and maintain preferred vendor status for an account. Studies marketing information on retail and wholesale buying centers and/or chain store locations to determine additional sales opportunities. This role will ensure timely statistical analysis to sales management for use as a planning guide resulting in optimal sales execution and attainment of growth objectives. Develops long-term goals and strategies to support growth with Valent and National Accounts.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for achieving account annual sales target and meeting quarterly purchase targets

  • Establishing annual purchase plan, negotiation of volumes & management of in-channel inventory

  • Negotiation of terms, programs & other conditions within approved authority

  • Presentation of offers, coordination of meetings with key individuals to better promote portfolio & service the account and their retailers

  • Identification of account strategic direction, proposals on approach sales should take to optimize and grow the business

  • Plan and manage the best approach for selling and communicating Valent marketing plans across account's organization, by directing efforts of other Sales team members (Regional Manager, Regional Account Manager, Territory Account Manager, Digital Sales, Biorational Account Lead) (create annual plan, identify leads to correspond to account's team & establish quarterly review sessions to ensure account plan is fully implemented

  • Lead in development, maintenance, and management of professional relationships with key personnel of designated National Accounts:

  • Drive new business opportunities with National Accounts by formulating, presenting, implementing, and managing new business proposals as well as leveraging current projects with National Accounts

  • Monitor customer feedback and develop solutions for prompt resolution of account issues across Valent departments

  • Manage communications between accounts and Valent to ensure timely and effective dissemination of key account and Valent information, keeping Valent Regional Managers, Account Management Team, and Senior Leadership Team updated

  • Accountable for all aspects of customer satisfaction for National Accounts within designated portfolio

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for National Accounts

  • Investigate for new sales opportunities and assist in new product launch efforts, such as training, for new products with account in all geographies

  • Prioritize and initiate direct sales calls with key contacts at National Accounts and their retail

  • Responsible for analysis and tracking of key metrics to monitor overall national account performance versus contractual agreements and sales goals

  • Communicate and ensure understanding of Valent prices, terms and programs to National Key Accounts

  • Partner closely with Sales and Marketing Management to ensure both teams are fully aware of all key Account activity, customer strategy, and business-impacting events

  • Coordinate the flow of information between assigned National Accounts and multiple Valent departments to facilitate supply, sales, billing, collection, reporting, inventory and other business issues

  • Provide preliminary and final program-earnings analyses, reports and payments to assigned National Accounts

  • Lead in development, maintenance and management of multi-level, professional relationships with key personnel of designated National Accounts

  • Lead the process of formulating and presenting business proposals on Biorational sales, Digital collaboration, and supply chain logistics to increase partnership with assigned National Accounts

  • Monitor customer feedback and develop solutions for prompt resolution of National Account issues across Valent departments to ensure high-level customer satisfaction.

  • Conduct on-site customer visits as needed and maintain frequent telephone contact with assigned National Accounts key personnel to maintain customer support and satisfaction.

  • Develop National Account presentation packages, pricing structures and new-product strategies

  • Protect existing account revenue and identify additional revenue opportunities.

  • Coordinate sales activities, goals, tactics, and negotiate with procurement department for assigned national accounts

  • Attend to account service needs

  • Proactive in identifying and addressing potential customer needs and concerns.

  • Manage account performance monthly

  • Communicate and coordinate customer needs to regional managers, marketing, supply- chain and sales management

  • Communicate competitive intelligence to management

  • Develop customer strategic plans and communicate to Valent Sales and Marketing Management

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS, MBA or equivalent, with 9-14 years of related experience

  • Physical Demands include constant walking, standing, bending at the neck and waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting at the neck and waist, simple grasping, power grasping, and fine manipulation with hands, pushing and pulling with hands, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.; also frequent lifting and carrying of up to 75 lbs., occasional sitting and lifting and carrying of up to 100+ lbs. Travel by air or car up to 75% of the time and will be required to drive safely for long distances.

  • Work Environment includes exposure to or working in or around moving cars, trucks, forklifts, equipment and machinery including a computer keyboard and mouse; uneven ground; excessive noise; extremes in temperature, humidity, or wetness; dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals; venomous insects and animals, heights; operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement; use of special visual or auditory protective equipment. May be required to work outdoors in an agricultural crop field, assist in putting out demonstration plots, wear respirator and other personal protection equipment.
