A Brief Overview
The Supervisor establishes the process for effective pharmacy operations including dispensing and distribution, and monitoring, and compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Performs all functions related to managing the day-to-day operations, scheduling and workflows. Leads, directs, coaches and evaluates employees in the performance of operational and clinical functions, standard methodologies and best practices. Ensure the quality, integrity of processes and operational efficiency. Meets and performs all activities associated with the supervision of people.

What you will do
Establishes the responsibilities and schedules to be assigned to pharmacists and technicians, as appropriate. Develops the measures and monitors the workflow to track the timeliness of completion and efficiency of result and communicates it to Pharmacy management.
Evaluates and conducts employee performance reviews. Responsible for and has the authority to hire and fire direct reports in consultation with pharmacy director/assistant director and Employee Labor Relations.
Ensure all preparation, dispensing and clinical procedures, practices, and activities are in compliance with regulatory requirements. Establishes and reinforce policies, practices, programs record keeping and standard workflows to ensure the integrity of all clinical and operational processes.
Establishes comprehensive procedures and ensures the implementation of consistent for all pharmacy areas.
Evaluates need for new equipment and tools. Maintains medication inventory, monitors turnover and oversees its ordering and stocking.
Mentors and coaches staff regarding the role pharmacy staff plays in fulfilling the Department's mission, and the mission of Stanford Hospital and Clinics.
Education Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
Experience Qualifications
Three (3) years of progressive responsibility and direct related work experience or
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to develop programs and lead process improvement projects
Ability to strategize, plan and implement change
Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results
Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader
Ability to work with devices, information systems, automated and technical equipment utilized in pharmacy
Knowledge of influence of patient's age, sex, concomitant disease states, concurrent drug therapy, foods and diagnostic procedures on drug activity and disposition
Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
Knowledge of Medical terminology and abbreviations; pharmacology and pharmacological nomenclature; medical therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and disease states
Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in proper handling and storing of pharmaceutical supplies
Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pathology, chemistry and mathematics as they relate to pharmacy practice
Knowledge of prescription and non-prescription drugs and drug products and their indications, efficacy, dosage, mechanisms of action; fate and disposition (if known), major contraindications and potential side effects
Maintain and communicate policies and procedures to employees
Monitor productivity and coach employee(s) on performance improvement
Supervise daily work and functions performed by staff and reschedule work assignment as needed
Licenses and Certifications
- RPH - Registered Pharmacist required

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $81.53 - $108.02 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
