What we want
The Postdoctoral Research Associate participates, supports, and expands ongoing research activities focused on designing, developing, and testing new and improved vaccines for brucellosis and creating novel tools to diagnose the disease, which is zoonotic and affects millions of people and animals around the world.

Required Education and Experience:
- Appropriate doctoral degree
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skills and experience in research animal models, microbiology and molecular biology.
Data analysis and interpretation skills including statistics
Oral and written communication skills and publication record.
The ability to work independently, but also (and most importantly) as a member of multidisciplinary collaborative teams.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine or related areas
Experience working with diverse animal models including large animals in vaccine research development
Experience working not only in research but also in educational and capacity building projects nationally and internationally.
Experience with microbiology techniques (bacteriology), molecular techniques (PCR, qPCR, cloning, sequencing, protein expression), cell culture, flow cytometry, histology and confocal imaging.
Experience in high containment laboratories (BSL3) – Select Agent programs
Personal or professional experience working with people or individuals of diverse backgrounds, and communities.
Responsibilities:
Research: Conducts research on the development and improvement of diagnostic tools and vaccines in regards to brucellosis and support the implementation of related research objectives and experiments identified by the PI or other supervisors. Performs bacterial live attenuated mutant vaccine development, bacterial protein expression, and purification. Studies vaccine safety and efficacy in cell culture and animal models (mice, guinea pig, small ruminants, etc.) Performs experiments in BSL2 and BSL3 research environments
Data Management: Assists in preparation of research data for oral and poster presentations, manuscripts, and grant submissions to state and federal funding agencies.
Training: Assists in training and supporting graduate and undergraduate students and other laboratory personnel in research techniques, data analysis, and use of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned
