Job Description

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to help create the rst in vivo phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) biosensor. We predict that developing a probe to observe PE dynamics in live animals will be a transformative innovation that will contribute to many scientic elds. The Wehman lab uses genetic and imaging approaches to determine the molecular mechanisms of extracellular vesicle budding. We discovered that regulators of lipid asymmetry also regulate outward budding of the plasma membrane to form extracellular vesicles (EV), specically regulators of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) asymmetry (see Wehman et al., Curr Biol 2011, Beer et al., PNAS 2018). PEs are poorly understood lipids with provocative roles during the nal step of cell division in addition to EV budding, but there are no genetically encodable probes for PE species to enable the study of their dynamics in living animals. https://bcbp.tamu.edu/people/wehman-ann/ The position is initially funded by a collaborative grant from the Allen Frontiers group. https://alleninstitute.org/division/frontiers-group/distinguished-investigators/extracellular-vesicles-in-maintenance-of-neuronal-circuitry/ Qualifications
