Job Description
Job Responsibilities:•Assist in designing novel protocols to assess combinations of vitamins and immune stimuli on antibody responses and stress-related immune responses•Set up and validate methods for cell cultures, animal (mouse and rat) breeding and handling, and analytical methods for measuring cellular and molecular responses•Perform experiments in vivo and involving primary cells to address cellular insights of antibody and inflammatory responses of immune cells (e.g., B cells, T cells, NK and NKT cells, and macrophages)
•Perform research independently, draft research manuscripts,train/mentor students, assist in development of protocols, independently set up new methods, maintain lab functions, and support the PI with relevant administrative work (e.g., ordering, animal welfare).•Meet with PI frequently to discuss the project’s designs, progress, grant writing, manuscript preparation, and mentoring.•Attend meetings with the PI, and other research team members, and other collaborators.•Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:• A Doctoral degree in Nutrition, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a closely related field.
Preferred Experience:
Recent graduation with 0-2 years previous postdoctoral experience.
• Research experience in cell culture, mouse or rat colony management, molecular biology, histology, gene expression. Knowledge of micronutrients as regulators of cell function desired.
• Experience with Cell counter, 96-well plate reader, centrifuge, Cell separation techniques, imaging techniques, PCR, autoclave, DNA sequencing, database use and management.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:•Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to locate and use relevant research protocols
Good communication and computer skills.
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- •Experience with molecular analysis of gene expression, mouse/rodent colony management, Histochemistry.
