Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Production Graphic Artist to work in our External Engagement and Communications department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off. You will work onsite at the Engineering Research Office Building (EROB) facility in Idaho Falls, Idaho and report to the Labwide Communications Manager. This position is a one-year project hire with strong possibilities to become a full time position.

You will help produce artwork, illustrations, layouts, and animations. You will also help design architectural/environmental displays and work with vendors under guidance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Help create 2- and 3-D animation and artwork, working with the customer to create storyboards.
  • Help design architectural displays, creating conceptual mockups before production and installation.
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, understanding design principles, and applying artistic abilities to develop products suitable for clients and audiences.
  • Help develop design projects, including selecting appropriate art production methods and meeting time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with other artists and team members to support several graphic products.
  • Proficiently use graphics software and resources to ensure cost and schedule commitments are met.
  • Prepare technical or design artwork and animation with guidance.
  • Coordinate production efforts with other organizations such as Text Processing, Printing, and Photography/Videography.
  • Create illustrations using basic graphic art skills for brochures, presentations, videos, displays, posters, multimedia presentations, and technical models.
  • Work with customers to plan and prepare graphics products.
  • Develop internal and external communication efforts or products.
  • Consult on standard methodologies for sharing our successes to help its experts create and tailor their messages to effectively reach target audiences.
  • Prepare messaging for target audiences, choose effective communications channels, and refine messages to optimize performance. Ensure understanding of INL and DOE expectations regarding branding, messaging, awareness, and approvals.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop comprehensive reports for the public, industry, and critical partners. Ensure technical documents follow appropriate style (i.e., APA).
  • Manage multiple deliverables simultaneously and anticipate short-, medium-, and long-term communication needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 1-EX1 bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field or High School and 6 years of relevant experience
  • Level 2-EX2 bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field and 2 years or High School and 8 years of relevant experience
  • A portfolio is required to be considered for this position.

Ideally you will have familiarity with animation and graphic art design, and ideally will have experience with Idaho National Laboratory processes.

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($45,300Min - $88,400 Max) / Level 2 ($54,876 Min - $107,064 Max). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
