Future PLC Senior Editor, Security in United States

What you'll do...

Tom’s Guide is looking to grow its coverage with an editor who has experience with security hardware, software and services. You will edit and write content that helps millions of shoppers choose the best products in several areas, including antivirus, identity theft protection, password managers, parental control software and cloud storage/backup. You’ll also lead Tom’s Guide coverage of security cameras and home security.

You will work with staff writers and freelancers to fill out coverage in these areas, and create a comprehensive editorial calendar to ensure Tom’s Guide has the most relevant content throughout the year. You will report to the Senior Editor of Security and Networking.

  • You’ll maintain several buying guides with regular updates.

  • Assign, edit, and write security-related stories on Tom’s Guide.

  • Help promote stories with back-linking from current articles, posts to our social channels and updates to our buying guides where relevant.

  • Assign and edit reviews of antivirus software, password managers, identity-theft protection, security cameras and related buying guides.

  • Cultivate relationships with multiple tech companies, analysts and other sources to break news stories on Tom’s Guide.

  • Track which stories perform well to inform future assignments, sharing that information with channel editors.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve...

  • A strong understanding of security products and features

  • First-rate SEO experience with e-commerce-focused content

  • At least 5 years of editorial experience required

  • Must have an interest in and knowledge of consumer tech and the other subjects Tom’s Guide covers

  • Focused approach to delivery and see the early trends before anyone else.

  • Exceptional editing skills which come from a clear understanding of what makes a good review or Op-Ed.

  • You’ll have a passion for the data side of web editing and monitor and interpret performance and trends

  • Proven ability to write high-quality engaging, relevant content

  • Experience working with social media

  • Ability to work as part of a wider/remote team

Please note, the salary range for this position is $72,000-$77,000.

This is a position covered under a collective bargaining agreement between Future US, Inc. and the Writers Guild of America East.
