A2H is currently seeking a Senior Planner in our Lakeland, TN office with strong interest and experience in being responsible for managing complex planning projects and rewrites of land development codes, coordinating inter-disciplinary project teams, technical development, and client management and relations. Potential projects may include county/local level comprehensive plans, neighborhood plans, downtown and community revitalization plans, corridor plans, park plans, and strategic plans.
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Preparing expert opinions regarding development proposals, plan amendments, rezoning, and annexations on behalf of public or private clients
Preparing and making public and client presentations and facilitating public meetings and workshops
Conducting research and preparing reports on land use, physical, social & economic issues
Conducting review of development plans to determine conformity with client's local regulations
Performing field inspections to gather data relevant to the project
Writing proposals, developing budgets and schedules
Engaging in client interactions and business development
Aid in construction administration for projects including field observations
Prepare and ensure accuracy of technical documents through Quality Assurance reviews at different phases of project
Managing project timelines and schedules
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate shall possess the following qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in urban planning or related field, or a strong combination of city planning, physical design and public policy undergraduate and graduate level education.
At least five to 8 years (5-8) of comprehensive planning at a consulting firm or public entity (consulting experience is preferred)
Advanced knowledge of the philosophies, principals, practices & techniques of city and rural planning and zoning, and of Tennessee planning and land use laws
Well-developed knowledge of one or more planning disciplines, such as land use, downtown revitalization, economic development, or urban design.
Knowledge of principles, methodology, practices of research and data collection
AICP Certification is required. Supervisory experience is preferred.
Landscape Architecture Licensure is preferred
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Sketch Up, Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
