Senior Substation Electrical Engineer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers is seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer with substantial experience in substation design (or equivalent) to support the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Lake Oswego, Oregon, office. There are opportunities for remote, hybrid, or in-office working conditions. Employee is required to live within driving distance of the office.
Responsibilities
Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage utility substations
One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
Perform QA/QC for substation project deliverables to clients across multiple offices
Ensure POWER quality procedures are followed and that the team is resourced in an optimal manner
Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution
Occasional travel will be required
Required Education/Experience
Ability to function as a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer in the St. Louis location of our Substation Business Unit
BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSREE (BS Renewable Energy Engineering), or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree from an accredited university
Experience in 15kV through 345kV physical and electrical substation design, and IEEE/ANSI standards
Experience in managing five or more people on a project team
Experience filling the role of project engineer for several projects occurring concurrently
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
10+ years of experience in utility substation design
Professional Engineering license (PE)
Experience with - and established positive relationships with - industry clients, including utilities, developers, and OEMs
Experience in 345kV through 750kV substation design
