Senior Transmission Line Project Engineer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer for our San Diego Power Delivery Line Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, supporting, and coordinating the following:

  • Project Support

  • All aspects of transmission line design including new lines, relocations, rebuilds, upgrades, structure replacements, and fiber optic additions

  • Lead transmission design efforts with projects ranging from 12kV-765kV

  • Prepare and check design deliverables including plan and profiles drawings, material selection, and construction specifications

  • Perform quality reviews for both internal and subcontractor deliverables

  • Prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints

  • Manage and develop project estimates, schedules, bids, and engineering support

  • Evaluate design options, criteria, and routes for technical merit

  • Understand construction standards and requirements for high voltage line work

  • Coordinate with contractor and subcontractors to ensure client satisfaction

  • Travel to client offices/field/vendor facilities as needed

Required Education/Experience:

  • Civil (BSCE) or Electrical (BSEE) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option

  • Experience in the design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packages

  • Understanding of NESC and GO-95

  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Lite

  • The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • 12 or more years of experience in transmission line design as outlined above

  • A California Professional Engineering license (PE) is strongly preferred

  • Experience with MFAD, and Microsoft Project is strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC projects, and line construction

  • Distribution/underbuild design experience is a plus

  • Understanding of ANSI, ASTM, ASCE, and IEC standards

  • Managerial and leadership skills

  • Proficiency with PLS-TOWER

Base Salary Range: $90K - $180K

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
