SUMMARY:

The Student Engagement Coordinator (Civic Engagement) supports the development of community engagement, , student volunteerism and service that are grounded in student learning outcomes. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement. As a member of the Division of Student Affairs, this position will uphold the values of advocacy, collaboration, innovation, integrity, and student development. The work of this position will intentionally align with strategic priorities to advance the mission and vision of student affairs which results in successful lifelong learning through a transformative experience and student development.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with campus partners and student organizations in planning campus-wide service initiatives, programs, and workshops.

  • Coordinates all service-oriented activities including Operation Blue & Gold and Alternative Spring Break Trips.

  • Participates in planning and implementation of voter registration and education initiatives and programming.

  • Oversees budgetary items for service programs, including maintaining a university procurement card.

  • Manages the Presidential Volunteer Service Award program.

  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development.

  • Supports the coordination of programmatic and student learning outcome assessments

  • Serves on University Committees as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in higher education, leadership, college student personnel, education administration or related field

  • Experience: One (1) year of related experience (direct or indirect) with transferable skills. Experience in college student development, leadership development, and/or programming. Knowledge of theoretical models of leadership, college student development and issues related to first-year students and students in transition.

  • Knowledge / Skills: Experience with sound mentoring theory and application. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a broad constituency, including administrators, faculty, staff, students and parents.

  • Must model strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and flexibility in problem-solving. Ability to excel given an extensive workload within a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid driver’s license.

  • Physical Requirements: Have the ability to lift 50lbs and drive 15 passenger van/bus.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) or more years’ experience working with service programming, civic engagement or higher education programming.
