Technical Designer Location: Manhattan, NY Duration: 5-6 months Description: Description: Experience: 5 - 99 Years Nice To Have: Intimates fitting experience Individual contributor position responsible for executing the technical design process from development to final fit. Responsible for analyzing and evaluating garments to develop the correct fit specifications. Ensures that products are developed in a manner consistent with established fit quality, standards, manufacturer capabilities and cost specifications. Develops technical specifications and communicates fit to vendors/factories for approvals and corrections. Makes appropriate adjustments with factories as required to ensure integrity of design approved prototypes while monitoring quality and targeted price. Typically reports to Technical Services Manager. Typically directs Assistant or Associate Technical Designers. Bachelor's degree in Fashion, or equivalent experience. 5+ years’ experience in technical design. Plus size experience. Top 3 to 5 skills you are looking for from a candidate: Flexible, problem solver, supportive, maintain composure in a stressful situation, Could you provide a little background on the department and the team they will be working on: Technical Design- own the fit & comfort of the product, work very closely with design to ensure design intent is met while following our fit, comfort & quality standards Swimwear & Coverups – priority Sweaters & Knits/wovens – a plus What are some things that would stand out from candidates: Strong Intimate/Swim background Expertise in their field/specialization – worked at competitive intimate brands Have owned fit or help support lead TD with the above categories Patterning skills – examples of work, TP creation & fit corrections Well versed in Microsoft & Adobe programs (excel, illustrator) Experience with Flex PLM or Centric What would a typical day look like in this role as far as workload: Attend meetings & advise any takeaways or follow ups pertaining to the role, fitting 1-2 times a week (in office strongly preferred) Would you consider a recent graduate (or years of experience): Yes, but prefer someone who has had experience fitting & technical design work What are the Personality/Cultural fits needed to be successful: Approachable, empathetic, able to work in a fast-paced environment & large quantities , agile, goes the extra mile Confidence : public speaking & directing a room.
