VCA RIVER is hiring an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join the surgery team at our AAHA-accredited emergency and referral hospital in Chattanooga!
About the Role
You will support our surgery service by sterilizing and preparing surgical packs and instruments, setting up the surgery suite for various orthopedic and soft-tissue procedures, and assisting the veterinarian and technicians with a variety of other tasks.
Schedule: Surgical hours are Part Time, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8am - 6pm, with potential for Full Time by taking other hospital shifts as Veterinary Assistant.
Compensation: Veterinary Assistants enjoy a competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience and credentials. There is also a $2/hr shift differential for overnight shifts Mon-Thu and weekend hours Fri-Sun.
About RIVER
We are home to a wonderful team of specialists, LVMTs, Assistants, and support staff, with services including Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, Physical Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, and 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care. Our doctor team includes a boarded criticalist, veterinary radiologist, certified canine rehabilitation practitioners (CCRP), and a new internist starting in late May.
Our imaging services include ultrasound, echocardiography, and CT, with MRI in the works. We offer a variety of orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, fluoroscopy via C-arm, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Our internal medicine service will offer endoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, and some chemotherapy. Our rehab service offers a variety of options including underwater treadmill.
