Field Service Engineer to service and maintain a highly complex Proton Particle Accelerator. Performs in-depth Preventative Maintenance and monitors system performance and parameters during clinical hours.The position will be a travel position based in New Jersey.
A willingness to travel 75% of the time to Proton Centers across the United States and occasionally work/travel on the weekends if necessary.
The position will allow the Field Service Engineer to experience new challenges across many Proton sites, work with new team members and opportunities for new challenges and growth.

- Support when necessary, staffing at clinical sites, support Preventive Maintenance activities, technical updates, and modifications when necessary.
- Willingness to be home based at the Voorhees, NJ site, and travel when necessary.
- Ability to relocate from the home base if necessary to meet business needs.
- Performs in-depth system analysis for repairs and system optimization.
- Provides highly visible customer support through the servicing and maintenance of the proton beam therapy system and ancillary devices.
- Monitors system performance during clinical hours / patient treatment and resolves system issues.
- Performs Preventative Maintenance per the site PM plan and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist Senior FSE and Tech Lead with the installations and upgrades of a wide range of complex and advanced company products according to technical documentation and company guidelines to ensure that customer's equipment operates efficiently.
- Able to work in a highly dynamic environment that requires the individual to work a Compressed Rotating shift (Flex Shift), which comprises of a scheduled rotation of Days and Evening work shifts.
- Able to work in a team environment with little to no direct supervision.
- Performs all work with a high degree of professionalism, quality and a safety-first mindset.
- Assists with coaching new and less experienced engineers in Clinical Operations, System Operation, and Technical Subject Matter - including the new product offerings.
- Able to troubleshoot and identify system issues and performs system analysis for moderate to complex repairs.
- Able to identify and understand the functionality of major parts in at least one sub-assembly and effectively convey this to others.
- Skilled in working with state-of-the-art hardware and software, PCs, and networking/wireless networking.
- Assist with the service tasks and upgrades of a wide range of complex and advanced company products according to technical documentation and company guidelines to ensure that customers' equipment operates efficiently.
- Assist with the installations, upgrades, and STB activities.
- Actively participates in the system escalations, equipment updates, and communication to management on status.
- Provides and mentors others on accurate, detailed, and concise field service reports.
- Skilled in the use of internal software applications for both the business and Proton System such as Microsoft Office Suite.,
- Ability to learn SAP, Salesforce, Siemens PLC GUI, and Varian Treatment Control applications.
- May be expected to travel up to 75% of the time.
- Must have, or be able to acquire, a passport for international travel.
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional experience with high voltage.
- Electronic and electro-mechanical engineering experience.
- Professional experience with micro-computers/PC based systems/PLCs
- Experience with precision tools and diagnostic equipment (i.e., Calipers, Torque Wrench's, DVMs, Oscilloscopes, etc.)
Other Desired Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience or knowledge with Imaging Systems/X-Rays.
- Experience or knowledge with Radio Frequency (RF).
- Experience or knowledge with High vacuum.
- Experience or knowledge with Vacuum leak checks/detection
- Experience or knowledge Electro-magnetic field
- Experience or knowledge with the maintenance of calibrated electronic and/or mechanical equipment.
- Experience or knowledge of Robot technology fundamentals
- Experience or knowledge of Cryogenics fundamentals
Education/Experience:
Associate Degree or equivalent 4 - 6 years of related experience.
Position must have full access to Varian client sites to perform the essential functions of this position. Many clients require Varian employees and representatives to meet certain Vendor Credentialing requirements before they will be allowed to have access to their sites. Unless prohibited by law, position must meet all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to have full client access and must continue to meet those requirements during the course of employment in this position. These requirements vary by client and may include, but are not limited to: Proof of valid identification (photo, driver's license, SSN) Criminal background checks Drug screens Immunizations (COVID-19, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus) Annual TB testing Healthcare training

The base pay range for this position is
Min $64,900 - Max $110,400The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
