Purpose of Job The Laboratory Support Services Supervisor is responsible for the financial, technical and scientific oversight of the laboratories as appropriate. The Laboratory Support Services Supervisor will be responsible for all laboratory support functions in their assigned area including Off Site clinics as necessary. The Laboratory Support Services Supervisor works in collaboration with the laboratory and clinic management to evaluate staffing needs and competency for the laboratory support staff. The Laboratory Support Services Supervisor supports the CLIA Laboratory Director to maintain accreditation. Job Functions Provides direct supervision of the Laboratory Support Services including specimen processing, phlebotomy, EKG/stress testing. Supports the department director/manager through development of programs, goals and objectives consistent with those of the organization's overall strategic plan and initiatives. Supervises support staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner. Assists in the development of core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development. Contributes a cohesive team of Laboratory department committed to providing distributive, clinical and service quality to all customers. Carries out functions with an awareness of operating expenses and key indicators within the budget for the Laboratory. Supports department director/manager in quality improvement efforts and service delivery that contributes to the overall success and financial viability of Laboratory. Reviews and monitors applicable policies and procedures. As assigned, ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency standards. Proactively identifies and acts upon improvement projects and opportunities through observation, data analysis, engagement with partners, review of external impact factors and best practices, as well as ongoing communication with leadership and staff. Responsible for oversight of the laboratory staff including directing work within the system and coordinating with clinic site managers on quality needs as appropriate. Monitors quality assurance to improve laboratory processes including but not limited to: daily review of patient results; review and document quality control records; ensures instrument performance to include calibration, maintenance record review, and troubleshooting and take remedial action as necessary; calculates Productivity, Quality assurance data and report to Laboratory management. Competency assessment and performance oversight for day shift MLS/MLT's, Lab Assistants and Clinic Support Staff at the given site as appropriate. This includes but not limited to staff testing, collecting, processing, and transporting laboratory patient specimens. Work collaboratively with Lab Leadership Team for standardization of training and site needs. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technology (MT) with experience in clinical Laboratory Support coordination of laboratory services Experience in technical supervision of a laboratory support department preferred Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology board of registry or equivalent per CLIA standards Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Professional presence and effective interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to supervise and coach a team Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels Ensures excellent service with a high degree of urgency to internal and external customers Demonstrated computer aptitude to include ability to effectively utilize the Kronos system and Microsoft suite Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions bility to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Preferred Qualifications Preferred 3 to 5 years of applicable experience MBA Ridgeview Medical Center will not discriminate against or harass any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, citizenship, national origin, age, disability, military service, veteran status, genetic information, union membership, creed, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity, status with regards to public assistance, membership in a local human rights commission, or any other category that may be protected by law.
