Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer's Laboratory Technician in Warren, Ohio
SUMMARY: Work is performed under the general supervision of either the Laboratory Manager or Chemist who give specific instructions on new and altered procedures and who inspects testing methods, results and laboratory techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
40% Analyzes organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties (e.g., analysis of pH, biochemical oxygen demand, total volatile solids, phosphorus, etc.) Performs bacteriological chemical and physical examination of wastewater stream and sludge samples. Reads and records results.
30% Calibrate instrumentation and record pertinent information. Perform bacteriological, chemical, and physical examinations of wastewaters, streams, sludge's; tests to include BOD, CBOD, suspended solids, COD, percent volotals, ammonia, fecal coliform, hardness, total solids, percent solids, etc.
15% Prepares standards and specifications for processes and tests. Prepares, maintains and sets up a wide range of laboratory equipment, apparatus and supplies, cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment, utensils and facilities. Operates and programs automatic samples.
10% Performs and maintains records of quality control testing including duplicate samples, ERA and EPA QC check standards. Enters data into computer for State Reports.
5% Assists with the collection of wastewater and industrial waste samples and data.
