Microsoft Corporation Technical Excellence Electrical Engineer in Washington D.C., District Of Columbia

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to (50)%.

Responsibilities

The Technical Excellence Electrical Engineer will manage the coordination of electrical infrastructure requirements with internal stakeholders to support datacenter design development and documentation processes. They will ensure alignment of electrical and EPMS infrastructure with Microsoft's global datacenter requirements, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors specializing in datacenter architecture to deliver solutions. This role also involves facilitating the development of Microsoft's datacenter design standards, managing design documentation, and overseeing multiple design projects and process improvements.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 12+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • Registered Professional Engineer/Licensed Engineer

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience

Electrical Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
