Robert Half Accounting Assistant in Washington, District Of Columbia

Description

We are looking for a meticulous Accounting Assistant to join our team located in Washington, District of Columbia. My client is a conservative mission-based political organization with a newly created role for an Accounting Assistant. The role will involve managing accounts payable, processing invoices, and ensuring all transactions comply with election financial policies and procedures. This position offers an exciting opportunity in the political industry with a fast-growing organization.

Responsibilities:

• Post accounts receivables in compliance with policy election and campaign compliance

• Assist with processing weekly check runs, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and vendors are paid promptly

• Verify that all transactions comply with financial policies and procedures

• Oversee accurate coding of invoices and ensure appropriate approval for payment of invoices is received

• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies associated with the processing of invoices

• Maintain all accounts payable files, including scanning all invoices into accounting software

• Regularly monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary

• Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently

• Maintain accurate customer credit records

• Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting assistant role or similar

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Strong data entry skills

• Experience in administrative assistance or office administration

• Knowledge of administrative office procedures and systems

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational and planning skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred

• Familiarity with accounting software is a plus.
