Job Overview
The Alumni Services Coordinator - a key member of the Alumni Affairs team at Georgetown Law - is responsible for event and communications management for the Office of Alumni Affairs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Event management and support - including Alumni-Student programming – in cooperation with the Office of Student Affairs – by serving as a liaison with student groups to promote the Alumni office and its efforts; and supporting various aspects of planning, implementation, and follow-up for other programming, including Reunion Weekend, regional events and affinity programs.
Communications - administer the general alumni email account, phone, website, and social media presences for the office; and manage select alumni correspondence, including letters and acknowledgements to alumni volunteers.
Point of contact - serve as face of the Alumni Affairs, greeting and welcoming all visitors to the O'Neill Alumni Welcome Center, disseminate information about the Law Center, and provide tours to alumni of the campus
Administrative support – assist Administrative Senior Director and office staff with financial matters, office management, contract management, and coordination and execution of various mailing and database projects.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Senior Director of Law Alumni Affairs, the Alumni Services Coordinator provides support to the Senior Director and three Associate Directors and oversees the work of work-study students.
The Coordinator interacts with alumni from all over the world, and is the first point of contact for the office for both internal and external constituents – for all offices on the Law Center campus for planning and implementing programs.
As well, they interact with external vendors in the planning and executing of alumni events, and with internal partners regarding contract issues, accounts payable, and various units within the central Office of Advancement for our shared engagement of University alumni. These interactions happen across all media and fora, including email, phone, social media, in-person (at events, on campus, off campus, at meetings, etc.)
Requirements and Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalency 0 preference for a Bachelor’s degree
2 to 4 years of work experience required [note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and work experience]
Strong organizational skills and a detail orientation
Ability to prioritize and work with multiple projects and constituencies including students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities successfully and to meet all deadlines consistently
Ability to assimilate data, to exercise sound judgment and discretion, and to work independently
Accuracy in materials preparation
Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise a high degree of professionalism and acumen in dealing with various stakeholders
Ability to lift/carry boxes weighing up to 20 pounds
Excellent writing, speaking, clerical, and computer skills - MS Office Suite, database, and social media
A positive attitude, outstanding customer service skills, and attention to detail Willingness to abide by professional dress code
Availability for some weekend and evening work
