Amentum is supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in providing specialized training, advisory and mentoring services to host nations under the Criminal Division’s International Criminal Investigative Training and Assistance Program (ICITAP). https://www.justice.gov/criminal-icitap.

Amentum is the contract service provider to the DOJ ICITAP and Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) programs.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Amentum is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Crime Scene Scientist Advisor in in various countries on an ad-hoc basis. This position will be responsible for supporting the development of foreign Crime Scene Scientists in preserving evidence at crime scenes. The candidate will support the implementation of best practices and aid in the alignment of crime scene work with international accreditation standards.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentors and trains host-country experts on training, techniques, and procedures used in the collection, preservation, examination, and analysis of evidence from crime scenes.
Mentors and trains host-country crime scene leadership on training, techniques, and procedures for the management of large- and small-scale crime scenes.
Duties also include facilitating meetings; leading working groups; developing reports and specialized papers; reviewing and editing policies; manuals and Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs); conducting briefings; and, active participation in advising officials.
REQUIREMENTS : (Superior experience in critical areas may be substituted for other areas at DOJ discretion)
• Minimum of 10 years of crime scene experience progressively increasing.
• Bachelor’s degree in forensic science, physics, biology, molecular biology, chemistry or related fields from a US Department of Education recognized institution.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust certification from the U.S. DOJ.
OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Professional Certification, through the International Association for Identification (IAI) or equivalent.
• Experience supervising or managing crime scene activities.
• Demonstrated experience in QA/QC inspections and validation for forensic facilities.
• Continuing education demonstrated through publications, presentations, coursework, internships, or certifications; and,
• Language and foreign service skills/experience.
• Experience training or advising foreign officials.
• Clearable: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Waiver US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust Waiver Clearance
• Clearable: TCN candidates for this position will not need to be clearable as Third Country Nationals.
