GE Aerospace Senior Counsel –– Compliance & Regulatory - Anticorruption & Conflict of Interest in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Description Summary

The Senior Counsel – Compliance & Regulatory - Anti-Corruption & Conflict of Interest is the owner of GE Aerospace Anti-Corruption and Conflict of Interest compliance programs. In this role, you will be directly responsible for (a) understanding both risks globally and, in close collaboration with key business stakeholders, (b) maintaining risk controls sufficiently robust to allow the business to effectively manage these risks.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Deeply understand the anti-corruption and conflict of interest risks, which means (a) having an intimate familiarity with the laws, regulations, and case law relevant to both risks and how they’re developing; and (b) understanding how these risks are manifesting themselves in GE Aerospace specifically.

  • Keep current on global regulatory changes, enforcement trends, and other key developments for both and leverage external learnings in furtherance of internal risk management strategy.

  • Be aware of and appropriately analyze available internal data to gain insights into trends, discrete concerns, and potentially gaps or weaknesses in existing risk controls.

  • Maintain an understanding the risk controls used to manage these risk areas, and (where appropriate) monitor & test the effectiveness and efficiency of the risk controls, always striving to ensure that they are capable – in application – of (a) operating as designed and (b) managing the anti-corruption and conflict of interest risks as intended and adjusting them when not.

  • Act as subject matter expert on relevant anti-corruption and conflict of interest laws and regulations, including the United States Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, United States money laundering statutes, the United Kingdom Bribery Act, and other global anti- corruption legislation.

  • Provide legal advice, training, and support principally related to anti-corruption and conflict of interest compliance issues/concerns.

  • Investigate compliance concerns, manage audits of internal teams and external counterparties relating to emerging risks, implement corrective actions, and develop strategies that will continue to strengthen a world class compliance culture.

  • Utilize LEAN to simplify processes and reduce cycle time, including development of standard practices and web-based tools.

  • Acts with humility, leads with transparency, and delivers with focus

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

  • At least 4 years of legal experience as a practicing attorney.

  • Member in good standing with a State Bar.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to tailor content, presentation, and language to various audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive internal and external stakeholders to a decision in a matrix corporate environment.

  • Ability to make decisions that have deep impact.

  • Actively embraces new ways of thinking and practices that increase efficiency and effectiveness.

The base pay range for this position is $187,500.00 - $250,000.00 - $312,500.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 9/03/23.
