Description

We are offering an opportunity for a Sr. Accountant to join our team in the non-profit industry based in Washington, District of Columbia. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing our financial information and ensuring accuracy in our records. This role presents a short-term contract employment opportunity where you will be responsible for a range of accounting tasks including reconciling bank statements and managing accounts receivable and payable.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure financial records are accurate.

• Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) to manage income and receipts.

• Handle Accounts Payable (AP) to manage outgoing expenses.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel for maintaining and updating financial data.

• Prepare and record journal entries to keep track of financial transactions.

• Ensure all accounting tasks are performed in compliance with the standards of the non-profit industry.

• Collaborate with team members to improve financial processes and systems.

• Resolve any financial discrepancies that might arise and suggest corrective actions.

• Monitor financial transactions and reports to identify any irregularities.

Requirements • Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

• Extensive experience in a senior accounting position within the non-profit sector.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.

• Familiarity with bank reconciliations and journal entries.

• Comprehensive understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Commitment to ethical and confidentiality guidelines.

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
