What You’ll Get to Do:

As a Senior-level electrical engineer with a focus on electronics and control systems, you will lead design efforts for shipboard system modifications, machinery selection, and new construction systems design and analysis. You will perform intermittent travel to customer vessels to survey existing systems and gather documentation for design efforts. You will support development of technical modification drawings, perform supporting analyses, and draft technical documentation for modifications to existing ship systems complying with all regulatory requirements. You will support the design, development, and construction of main machinery systems and mission systems interfaces for MSC and US NAVY ship acquisition programs. You will support development and review of preliminary system designs including 3D models, schematics, manuals, and Ship Specifications to ensure design elements meets customer requirements and all regulatory body requirements.

More About the Role:

  • Development of marine electronic control and monitoring systems, review and analyzing preliminary and functional design documentation and development of ship system specifications.

  • Review and analysis of electrical propulsion systems, and control and monitoring systems for technical data packages developed to support design and construction of MSC and NAVY Program Vessels and other specialized Mission Systems.

  • Validation of shipyard deliverables for planned and under-construction customer vessels

  • Ship surveys of under-construction customer vessels for validation of engineering requirements

  • Ship survey of in-service vessels for development of engineering modifications

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Experience with electrical systems design and validation; including system operation, maintenance, and/or design work for machinery upgrades and/or analyses for commercial, MSC, and/or Navy vessels.

  • Experience with shipboard electrical aspects of mechanical systems including motor controllers, analog and digital automation, SCADA, networks, and components.

  • Experience with modern integrated engine room and bridge control systems and data protocols.

  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and develop mechanical and electrical drawings and technical manuals.

  • Detailed knowledge of U.S. Regulatory Body standards and ability to develop and prepare ship machinery documents for compliance with ABS Rules and other applicable engineering standards.

  • Experience with Military Sealift Command (MSC) marine engineering and/or Navy design practices.

  • Experience or capable of a leadership role on an engineering team

  • Strong writing skills and ability to prepare technical reports and papers

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Software suite

  • BS Mechanical or Marine Engineering degree

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Design experience for automation, electronics, or control systems experience aboard commercial vessels.

  • Familiarity with modern shipboard control(s) hardware and software such as power management systems, dynamic positioning systems, and variable frequency drives.

  • Familiarity with modern shipboard DC distribution systems

  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and/or 3D

  • Proficient in SolidWorks

  • Expert proficiency in MS Excel

Since this position can be worked in more than one location, the range shown is the national average for the position.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$82,100-$172,400
