SUMMARY

This position focuses on providing patient care before, during, and after peri-operative services. The role includes assessing nursing care needs, evaluating care effectiveness, and applying nursing theory in clinical practice. It involves using clinical expertise to ensure safe patient outcomes through ongoing assessments. The role requires a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES(include but are not limited to the following)

  • Coordinating patient care across multidisciplinary team settings.

  • Adapting to new methods, technologies, and approaches in healthcare.

  • Ensuring a positive patient experience by addressing and resolving concerns.

  • Developing tailored care plans using critical thinking, considering patient condition, age, and psychosocial factors.

  • Applying technical expertise to solve problems and serving as a resource and role model for staff.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Current license as a registered nurse issued by the State of Iowa or is eligible for reciprocity or has a work permit issued by the State of Iowa

  • 2-3 years experience as an operating nurse, preferred

  • Experience as a nurse providing perioperative care, preferred

  • Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for pediatric to geriatric patients.

  • BLS certification

  • For RN staff working in the Operating Room Suites, Endoscopy Suites and Post Anesthesia Care Unit the following is also required:

  • ACLS certified or willingness to complete within 1 year of hire.

  • PALS certified or willingness to complete within 1 year of hire

  • Competent in the theory and application in the care of the principles of the patient presenting for surgical or procedural care

  • Competent in the use of complex equipment found in the perioperative services area to include but not limited to; cautery, electric table, video equipment, scopes, airway equipment and suction equipment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with prevalent professional demeanor

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation

  • Supports and drives goals of the Company

  • Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing, and regulated environment

  • Display knowledge of care required by infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, school age, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
