Job Summary

The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and supporting the engineering team in executing both software and hardware development projects, from concept through to deployment. This role ensures projects are completed efficiently, meeting company standards for quality and performance. The Engineering Manager will coordinate resources, monitor project progress, and provide technical guidance to keep projects on track.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

  • Support the development and implementation of engineering best practices across teams, encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

  • Contribute to project objectives by reviewing engineering project proposals and plans.

  • Assist in evaluating and prioritizing engineering projects to align with team goals and organizational needs.

  • Coordinate resources for various project phases, including soliciting and reviewing outside vendor proposals when necessary.

  • Review project specifications by analyzing product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; conduct technical studies; and assist with cost estimation.

  • Work closely with project stakeholders to communicate progress and resolve any issues, keeping both internal and external team members informed.

  • Help drive the company's mission, management objectives, and quality standards throughout the engineering development process.

  • Collaborate with other departments and clients’ project management teams for shared tasks and deliverables.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Software Engineering Management

  • Manage and support the Software Engineering team’s development efforts.

  • Oversee the software testing process, assisting in determining tests and prioritizing to meet quality standards.

  • Ensure the maintenance of up-to-date software specifications, including requirements and design documentation.

  • Coordinate software development with internal and external teams to ensure project timelines are met.

  • Support the qualification testing for software products, ensuring adherence to company quality standards.

  • Oversee controlled documentation processes for software versions, updates, and releases.

Hardware / Firmware Engineering Management

  • Manage and support the Hardware / Firmware Engineering team in their development work.

  • Work closely with the testing team to coordinate hardware/firmware testing, including test prioritization and quality assurance.

  • Ensure hardware/firmware documentation is current and comprehensive, covering requirements, design, and user manuals.

  • Coordinate hardware/firmware development efforts with internal and external resources.

  • Oversee qualification testing for hardware/firmware products to meet quality standards and manage agency certifications.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels.

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and tools.

  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven leadership/management experience preferred

  • 5 years experience with managing hardware and/or software projects
