The Role in Brief:

Director, Product Marketing (Research and Advisory)

EAB’s Research Marketing team is looking for a talented, driven, and entrepreneurial marketer to support our Research and Advisory business with a focus on our Strategic Advisory Services offering for senior leaders in the 4-Year Higher Education market.

This role will partner closely with EAB’s Research and Commercial teams to develop content and strategies to increase brand awareness, create demand, drive sales, and support renewals across EAB’s Research businesses. This includes developing and curating thought leadership content such as blog posts, insight papers, and infographics; project managing presentations for webinars, events, and conferences; and sales enablement collateral such as visit decks, one-pagers, case studies, furthering tools, and urgency documents.

In addition to being highly skilled in clear and persuasive writing, having a love for big ideas, and a graphical eye, in order to be successful in the role, one must have excellent collaboration and project management skills and be effective at close collaboration with senior executives.

This role is based in Washington, D.C. or Richmond, Virginia. This position is posted at the Associate Director and Director level; candidates are being considered at both levels for the one current opening.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Shaping Marketing Strategy

  • Inflects sales by contributing to compelling marketing plans based on a deep understanding of buyer journeys and personas; develops creative solutions to challenges facing commercial teams

  • Creates tailored marketing programming for different priority market segments and audiences, including segments by role (e.g., President, Provost, CFO, Dean) by segment (public, private, research universities, country, etc.) and/or by EAB research line of business

  • Develops high-quality, differentiating content that helps EAB sustain and improve its competitive position in multiple education research markets

  • Selects best channels, messages, stories, and media for generating awareness and leads, acquiring visits, furthering evaluations, and closing new business

  • Prioritizes project queue to maximize impact on sales funnel and new business

  • Creating and Curating Content and Events

  • Develops and maintains deep understanding of EAB’s evolving Research perspective, and is able to fluently communicate the key insights in various written and graphical media

  • Curates and adapts content and materials developed by Research colleagues to maximize impact for the prospect audience, demonstrating creativity, flexibility, and a nuanced understanding of the insights in adapting materials for new audiences, formats, and messaging needs

  • Writes, produces, and edits effective content that could include blog posts, case studies, conference proposals/presentations, insight papers, webinars, infographics, video testimonials, executive briefings, reference webinars, visit decks, scripts, competitive positioning pieces, brochures, executive summaries, website content, furthering tools, urgency documents, and other collateral

  • Interprets complex issues and presents them effectively; adapts style, tone, and word choice to various media

  • Proactively edits existing collateral and/or scripting to reflect latest market intelligence

  • Achieves exceptional standards of quality, productivity, and timeliness

  • Project Management and Collaboration

  • Leads strategic project management for marketing events such as webinars, conferences, and in-person meetings including selecting topics, identifying and securing speakers (both internal and external), sourcing or developing the content for all presentations, and partnering closely with internal Demand Generation and Events teams on event execution

  • Travels on-site to conferences and EAB-hosted events to ensure smooth event execution alongside EAB Events, Demand Generation, and Sales teams.

  • Develops and maintains a content and event calendar/pipeline based on external research and interviews with internal stakeholders

  • Aligns with sales team leaders to develop content strategy, prioritize initiatives, develop/finalize deliverables, and launch materials with sales team

  • Collaborates with other groups within marketing and across the firm, such as creative services, partner success, product management, research, and events

  • Potential to manage 1-2 team members

  • Driving Innovation

  • Proposes and tests new channels, deliverables, formats, and ideas

  • Assesses the performance of marketing initiatives, gleaning insights to refine approaches, test new strategies, and continuously improve content quality and resonance.

  • Actively contributes to the evolution of the firm’s Product Marketing function, sharing insights and best practices to enhance overall performance

    Basic Qualifications:

    · Bachelor’s degree

    · Minimum of 6-8+ years professional experience

    · Able to clearly and precisely express complex ideas in written and graphical form; skilled at adapting language, format, and style for various media and audiences

    · Able to take ownership and drive projects from beginning to end, working with multiple groups effectively and on multiple projects concurrently

    · Intellectually curious, quick study, creative, attentive to detail, self-motivated

    · Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word

    · Willingness to travel on a regular basis to an EAB office (DC, Richmond) to meet with team members and to various locations to help staff and support conferences and EAB-hosted events

    Ideal Qualifications:

    · Demonstrated ability to quickly gain depth of understanding in complex subject areas, such as higher education market dynamics

    · Professional experience in product marketing, content strategy, brand strategy, research, journalism, or marketing communications

    · Professional experience developing, marketing, selling, or delivering consulting services

    · Knowledge of the U.S. higher education industry

    Compensation:

    The anticipated starting salary (base) range for this role is $88,000 - $115,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. At EAB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the starting salary range for their role.

    This hire will additionally be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
