Description:
Position Purpose:
Furnishes sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment and services for the care and treatment of patients. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.
What you will Do:
Decontaminates dirty equipment and supplies.
Prepares non-sterile portable equipment and supplies for use.
Instrument assembly: Inspects and assembles instruments in accordance with Pick card
Distributes and stores sterile supplies.
Sterilization of equipment: Loads and unloads sterilization cart and stores items in proper location.
Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
Hours/Schedule:
1.0 FTE; 64 hours per pay period; will include a weekend and holiday rotation; typical 2nd shift hours are 3:00pm- 11:30pm but can vary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians while performing their job duties.
Minimum of 6 months experience working with surgical instruments and assisting in patient care preferred.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Ability to make decisions without supervision and work collaboratively with others as a team.
Ability to perform under stressful situations and prioritize according to the urgent needs of the department.
Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical instruments and sterilization principles.
