The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for scheduling and managing distribution assignments within a collaborative environment. By controlling delivery costs and continuously improving safety practices they will have a positive accountable impact. This person will perform a variety of operational activities, spearhead safety culture, adhere to Federal Motor Carrier DOT driver compliance requirements and contribute to the overall success of the department.

The candidate will possess the ability to respond to daily demands such as adjusting for staffing resources, capacity planning, utilization and other unforeseen circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, mentor, train and support delivery route drivers

  • Evaluate workload and effectively schedule labor and equipment

  • Work collaboratively with peers to achieve common goals

  • Manages and resolve escalated/critical delivery issues

  • Administer driver safety training programs

  • Assist in experienced professional driver retention and recruiting efforts

  • Experience with direct management of employees and ability to handle conflict with tact and professionalism

  • Ensure daily adherence to safety, quality, regulatory and GMP requirements

  • Execute facility management duties for one location

  • Facilitate resolution to vehicle and equipment safety issues

  • Ability to share rotating supervisory roles and schedules

  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and cost control initiatives

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Proven supervisory experience

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines

  • Attention to detail with superb follow-through

  • High level of drive and initiative

  • Ability to learn and leverage scheduling systems, routing control software and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Lift fifty pounds regularly and on occasion more

  • Collaborative interaction in the delivery environment requires standing, sitting, bending, and ability to climb into a truck/trailer

  • Ability to travel as necessary

  • CDL license a plus

Educational Requirements

  • High School graduate

  • Microsoft Word and Excel skills are essential

  • Federal Motor Carrier Rules & Regulations
