TEKsystems Desktop Support Technician in Waukegan, Illinois

Our client is seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician for a 3-month contract to provide technical assistance and support to our employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in IT support, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network issues.

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop computers, printers, and other peripherals.

  • Strong understanding of VMware vSphere, Citrix XenDesktop, Citrix Director, and Citrix Studio

  • Must have a broad knowledge of Windows, Windows based systems such as Active Directory, PowerShell, Microsoft Office 365, MS Teams, OneDrive, Security concepts, and Bomgar/RDP

  • Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems

  • · Experience with Service Now ticketing system

  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of user accounts, permissions, and passwords.

  • Respond to support requests via phone, email, and in-person, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Document and track all support requests and resolutions in the ticketing system.

  • Perform routine maintenance and updates on computer systems and software.

  • Assist with the deployment of new hardware and software as needed.

  • Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex issues and improve support processes.

  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on best practices and IT policies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Desktop Support Technician or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.

  • Familiarity with network troubleshooting and basic network concepts.

  • Experience with Active Directory, Office 365, and common business software applications.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional) are a plus.
