Job Description Summary

Join a global engineering team utilizing advanced design tools and techniques to develop state-of-the-art Computed Tomography systems. Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user’s needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Systems Engineering manager leads Computed Tomography (CT) Systems Engineers as they develop systems that meet customer requirements for product quality, performance, cost, and speed to market. This role will partner closely with product management, software, hardware and other cross-functional and global teams.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Participate in strategic discussions related to the product and technology strategy as it relates to CT systems engineering in partnership with product management and other senior CT technical and business leadership

Collaborate with global systems teams to drive ‘Design-For-Platform’ in system designs, consistent engineering processes, engineering efficiency and systems test automation.

Functional leadership of the team, including recruitment, Technical Career Development (TCD), coaching, training & experiences to ensure a high-performance work culture in the organization

Integrate Quality Management System Processes with effective functional engineering practices (eg : Six Sigma, Lean, Technical Design Review Rigor, System modeling, design standards & tools) for improved product quality and reliability.

Drive continuous improvement of systems, products and processes to enable execution of the technology strategy, optimizing team’s participation in all phases of product development

Resource assignment and prioritization including headcount and budget management

Introducing a rigorous approach to target costing for new products and driving cost out of existing products

Leading change through creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues

Supporting existing products with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Service and Supplier Quality Engineering

Qualifications/Requirements

•Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering or Physics

•12+ years experience in engineering with emphasis on new product development

•At least three years of project management experience

•Prior experience directly managing Systems Engineering or prior experience leading systems engineering projects

Desired Characteristics

•Customer facing or product quality work experience

•At least five years of direct people leadership responsibility

•Masters or PhD in Engineering or Physics

•Proven ability to work cross-functionally

•Demonstrated supplier and manufacturing interface skills

•Excellent communication, influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives

•Proven LEAN skills

•Demonstrated success at leading large teams by creating a sense of purpose, vision and mission, measured by low attrition, high engagement and positive team culture

•Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes
