Generac is seeking a Director of Product Management for our Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) Portable Power Group. This role will ensure the alignment of product roadmaps with business objectives and customer needs and will drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative solutions to meet market demands. The Director will be responsible for achieving sales budgets, developing sales and marketing strategies, and will provide strategic leadership and oversight to a team of product managers.
This role will define product strategies and prioritize investments to achieve business goals. Collaborate with senior leadership to align product strategies with corporate objectives. Oversee product lifecycle management, from ideation to sunset phases. Ensure effective resource allocation across multiple product lines. Conduct market and competitive analysis to inform product decisions.
This Director will oversee the ICE (Internal Combustion Engines) Portable Power product category and is based out of our Waukesha, WI headquarters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the Product Management Team to develop the ICE portable power product category strategy and drive revenue and profitability.
Collaborate with, and provide guidance to other Product Management & Cross Functional Teams
Align with Executive Management to prioritize and align product strategies and roadmaps
Identify and develop strategic market opportunities
Collaborate to determine strategic distribution structure and channels
Develop strategies to expand business with existing customers and attract new ones
Lead cross-functional product initiatives
Drive activities to support key launch events or product milestones
Develop a successful and on-time product launch process
Lifecycle, pricing, promotion, and profitability management
Metrix performance of Team utilizing Key Performance Indicators
Set personal and team objectives that align with company strategy
Develop business plan to support new product development proposals.
Drive marketing efforts to support products
Participate in trade shows, sales training, and key customer interface
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
10 years of progressive experience in product management or related fields
7 years management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in business administration (MBA)
Consumer product, retail, e-commerce experience
Advanced certifications in product management (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, AIPMM
Experience in large-scale product portfolios and global teams
Prior experience with portable generator (Internal combustion) products
Previous experience using SAP
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
