Job Description

Responsibilities:

The program is designed to accelerate your professional development through challenging technical training and a variety of business-critical assignments. Edison (EEDP) graduates have the technical and business foundation to innovate and create the future of healthcare, together.

EEDP members at GE HealthCare experience technically challenging rotations that are driven by innovation related to critical business priorities to build products and solutions, to drive action and to inspire new ideas. What you can expect:

  • To be designing and developing cutting edge technology with three 8-month rotational assignments providing solutions and products within focal areas such as medical diagnostic imaging, ultrasound, critical care, surgical navigation systems, software platforms, services, healthcare digital ecosystem, advanced image chain, image processing and analysis, and patient monitoring to support our Early Health and Precision Health vision

  • To learn how GE HealthCare approaches the design of products, software, and solutions. They You will work closely to introduce product designs into production and ensure that GE HealthCare’s products/services meet customer needs

  • To participate in robust assignments that provide core engineering and design skills that are further enhanced through advanced courses in engineering

  • To develop leadership skills through corporate and local courses as well as individual and group projects

  • To gain experience and training combined with mentoring and guidance from assignment leaders and technical mentors to prepare members with the technical skills, soft skills, self-awareness, and application of values needed to achieve a successful career in technology

  • To drive technical project capabilities forward leveraging the product development cycle (e.g. ideation, prototyping, new product introduction, post-market) building skills within your discipline (e.g. for software tech stack: Java, JavaScript, Perl, Shell scripting, C, C++, MATLAB, Python, UNIX/LINUX)

Qualifications:

  • Recent college graduate - Bachelor’s degree (completing before July 2025)

  • Desired majors include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Biomedical Engineering majors with an additional focus in one of the above fields or design; or equivalent degree

  • Strong GPA

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms and with proven track record of influencing teams to action

  • A demonstrated strong technical aptitude towards problem solving

  • Demonstrated team skills, leadership skills and/or ability to work in a dynamic team environment

  • Must be willing to be based in the Milwaukee, WI area for first rotation; and have the ability to relocate as business needs and selected assignments change (relocation assistance is included)

  • Passion for making a difference through your work and engagement

Desired Characteristics: (Some of the following as applicable to a hardware or to a software focused role)

  • Prior internship, co-op, or research/design/project experience in the field such as hardware/software/firmware design, digital design, Radio Frequency, wireless systems, diagnostic imaging equipment, image processing, patient monitoring devices, life support system equipment, IT development, networking, medical informatics, software design/applications

  • Experience in the healthcare industry and/or experience working through a design cycle

  • Demonstrated project management skills working with and leading team members to deliver a specified output (product, solution, workflow, prototype)

  • If software focused:

  • Experience in object-oriented design methodology and/or with Java, JavaScript, Perl, Shell scripting, C, C++, MATLAB, Python, UNIX/LINUX

  • Experience with agile principles and methodologies, data analytics or Machine Learning technologies and beyond

  • If hardware focused:

  • Understanding of mechanical/electrical engineering theory, simulation, testing, prototyping, product development cycle and/or

  • Experience with CAD and simulation tools (e.g., Creo, Ansys, GENESIS); power electronics, embedded systems, controls, and beyond

  • Proven adaptable skills with desire to grow through mentorship and experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and community involvement
