The Sales Engineer I is responsible for providing technical sales support to distribution and coordinating special design options between distribution and specials engineering. This role will support Generac’s lead gas initiatives by helping convert diesel projects into natural gas. This role interfaces and supports all applicable industrial product distribution partners, national accounts and consulting/design engineers as needed. This role helps create additional sales by providing solutions through technical knowledge and expertise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides customer service and technical sales support to distribution and their customers.

  • Coordinates special design options between distribution and specials engineering.

  • Support Generac’s natural gas market position by helping convert diesel quotes/projects into gas.

  • Support industrial product sales through all applicable distribution channels

  • Help manage accounts’ unique requirements.

  • Provides technical training for both internal and external customers.

  • Advocates necessary product improvement and the resolution of customers’ issues (e.g., inspection issues and application and service issues).

  • Works with system integrators, shelter suppliers and installers relative to any issues.

  • Supports the sizing program data.

  • Creates drawings supporting sales efforts.

  • Creates presentations supporting products or applications.

  • Ensures national accounts needs are being met with knowledgeable prompt support.

  • Interfaces with existing industrial dealers, national accounts and consulting/design engineers creating additional sales by providing a portfolio of power solutions through technical knowledge and expertise.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree

  • Experience in the power generation industry

  • Drawing experience (Autocad)

  • Technical writing and training experience

  • Sales and/or customer service experience

  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to manage a large, diverse technical work-load in a fast-paced work environment;

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
