Job Title: Business Insights Strategist

Location: Corporate

Job Summary : The Business Insights Strategist is responsible for helping the business define, plan, and implement solutions by gathering data, applying advanced analytics, and creating visualizations to interpret results, develop insights and communicate effectively to business partners.

Principal Duties:

  • Collaborate with business partners and Data Science Research Specialists to elicit and clearly document deliverables, requirements, business needs, actions, issues, risks, and decisions needed for analytic projects.

  • Plan and deliver analytics projects. Facilitate meetings to achieve results.

  • Drive task completion and business issue resolution across functional areas.

  • Create and write queries using Structured Query Language (SQL) and other programming languages as applicable to enable access to large datasets to enable more efficient analysis to drive tactical and strategic decisions

  • In conjunction with the Data Science Research Specialists, analyze data using a variety of advanced techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining to provide information necessary to drive decisions.

  • Share complex data results in a format that is easily understandable for the business partner in order to make sound decisions.

  • Support operationalizing findings via testing and/or market research to drive additional context and final outcomes/business improvements.

  • Collaborate with Planning & Analysis Leadership and Analysis Center to help execute the initiatives of Wawa’s analytics strategy to strengthen the capabilities and promote the growth of an analytic culture.

  • Research, evaluate, and stay current on emerging analytic tools, techniques, and technologies; maintain skills and capabilities through education, training, and hands-on experience. Identify opportunities to adopt innovative analytical techniques.

  • Successful engagement in multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and break down high-level information into details

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail evidenced through sound analytical skills

  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills

  • Reporting and documentation experience and passion

  • Ability to build collaborative and effective working relationships across organizations

  • Ability to translate complex data into understandable language for business partners

  • Excellent “story telling” ability

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a background in finance or planning & analysis or in a quantitative field such as business intelligence, mathematics, or statistics

  • Experience conducting and facilitating work sessions to collect and define user and business stakeholder requirements

  • Experience writing code with Structured Query Language (SQL) required

  • Experience with other programming languages such as Python is beneficial

  • Experience with BI and Visualization tools

  • Understanding of Advanced Analytic techniques and concepts

  • Analytic project management experience

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

  • Prior experience translating and communicating complex data results into an understandable format for business partners
